The EX International Inc. (referred to as "topic™", "we", "us" and "our") takes individuals' privacy seriously. This Statement explains our policies and practices and applies to information collection and use including but not limited to while you are visiting and using topic.or.kr (the "Site").


For the purposes of the relevant data protection laws in force in places including but not limited to Republic of Korea and the European Union (the “EU”), topic™ is data controller and/or data user which control the collection, holding, processing or use of your personal data. This Statement is also part of our Terms of Use  for the Site.

This is the Privacy Policy governing your use of the topic™ Site. By using this Site, you consent to our Privacy Policy set out below. All terms not defined in this document have the meanings ascribed to them in the Terms of Use Agreement between you and topic™ which by use of this Site you agree to accept.

 

1. Information Collection

In order to provide a better service to you, we may, in the course of and in relation to provision of our services or products, collect and process the following information about you:

l  information (such as, your name, your company name, address, telephone number, email address, website, nature of business and product/service details etc. of your company) when you register with us, use our services, attend our functions, or communicate with us;

l  in connection with an account sign-in facility, your log-in and password details;

l  the content of any communications you send to us, for example, to report a problem or to submit queries, concerns or comments regarding the Site or its content; and

l  information from surveys that we may, from time to time, run on the Site for research or statistical purposes, if you choose to respond to, or participate in, them.

The provision of personal data by you is necessary in order for us to provide you with the requested services and for us to perform our contractual obligations (if any) to you (as one of the legitimate interests of topic™). If you do not supply such data, we may be unable to provide the requested service.

In addition, when you browse the Site, we will collect the basic technical information that your browser sends to the Site such as your browser type and language, access times, the address of the site from which you came to the Site, your Internet Protocol (IP) address, or click stream data within our website (i.e. the actions taken in connection with the Site) etc. We collect such technical information during your visit to the Site through our automatic data collection tools, which may include cookies and other commonly used technologies. We collect such data for the purpose of improving the functionality of the Site. Additional information about cookies is described in “4. Cookies”.

 

2. Use of Information

The purposes for which information may be used by us in and outside Republic of Korea include:

(a) processing applications

(b) providing services and information offered through the Site

(c) providing services to facilitate trade between Republic of Korea and overseas (or otherwise), and providing enquirers with contact and business information

(d) our operations, e.g., incorporation into our database, analysis, research and auditing

(e) notification of topic™ trade fairs in Republic of Korea and promotional events or trade fairs around the world (and similar events or trade fairs organized by our business partners and counterparts)

(f) distribution of topic™ publications and research materials (and those of our business partners and counterparts)

(g) marketing topic™ services or products (and those of our business partners and counterparts engaged in similar or peripheral activities, such as business matching services, sourcing and conferences)

(h) complying with laws, regulations or codes of practice in or outside Republic of Korea

(i) legal proceedings, including collecting overdue amounts

(j) other purposes directly relating to the activities identified above

(k) prevention or detection of crime, and protection of the security and safety of our events and trade fairs

(l) verification of identity in events organized by us where it is necessary to verify your identity

We may conduct direct marketing via email, telephone and other means of communication whether now or hereafter known, or send e-newsletters to you.

 

3. Disclosure

We will keep the personal data we hold confidential but may provide your personal data to:

l  personnel, agents, advisers, auditors, contractors, financial institutions, and service providers in connection with our operations or services

l  our overseas offices, promotional event/trade fair co-organizers, affiliates, business partners and counterparts (e.g other trade promotion bodies such as Korea International Trade Association, etc)

l  persons under a duty of confidentiality to us

l  persons to whom we are required to make disclosure under applicable laws in or outside Republic of Korea

l  actual or proposed transferees or participants of our services

l  topic™'s parent company and subsidiaries, or affiliates

We may provide your personal data as required or permitted by law to comply with a summons, subpoena or similar legal process or government request, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is legally required or otherwise necessary to protect our rights and property, or the rights, property or safety of others, including but not limited to advisers, law enforcement, judicial and regulatory authorities in or outside Republic of Korea. We may also transfer your personal data to a third party that acquires all or part of our assets or shares, or that succeeds us in carrying on all or a part of our business, whether by merger, acquisition, reorganization or otherwise.

 

4. Cookies

A “cookie” is a small amount of data that is sent to your browser and stored on your computer's storage drive. A cookie can be sent to your computer’s storage drive only if you access our Site using the computer.

We do not directly collect personally identifiable information through cookies. However, cookies are used to collect data for statistical purposes. The items we collect are, for example, your IP address and the browser used to connect. For more information, see "5. Collecting Statistical Data".

You can determine if and how a cookie will be accepted by configuring your browser’s which is installed in the computer you are using to access the Site. If you desire, you can change those configurations in your browser. By setting your preferences in the browser, you can accept all cookies, you can be notified when a cookie is sent, or you can reject all cookies.

 

5. Collecting Statistical Data

We are collecting data for statistics in order to provide better service. Within the topic™ site, data collection processing for statistics by Google Analytics takes place. Cookies are used for data collection. Items we collect include page views, Scrolls, outbound clicks, site search, video engagement, file downloads, and more. However, we do not personalize advertisements with the data we collect. (Our site does not have an external advertising module such as Google Ads installed)

6. Security

We employ commercially reasonable security methods to prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy and ensure correct use of information. We recommend that you do not divulge your Password to anyone. Your password is encrypted and stored.

Our personnel will never ask you for your Password in an unsolicited phone call or in an unsolicited e-mail. If you share a computer with others, you should not choose to save your log-in information (e.g., User ID and Password) on the computer. Remember to sign out of your Account and close your browser window when you have finished your session.

No data transmission over the Internet or any wireless network can be guaranteed to be perfectly secured. As a result, while we try to protect your information, no web site or company, including ourselves, can absolutely ensure or guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.

 

7. Hyperlinks

The Site may, from time to time, contain links to external sites operated by third parties for your convenience. We have no control of and are not responsible for these third party sites or the content thereof. Once you leave the Site, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide to these third party sites. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement for the website you visit.

 

8. Changes

We may update this Statement. When we do, the changes will be posted on http://topic.or.kr/terms/privacy


9. Data Transfers

We will generally hold your data on our servers hosted in Republic of Korea. However, we may transfer information to anyone listed in “3. Disclosure” above, who may be located in our overseas offices or elsewhere around the world for database processing purposes. If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) your personal data may be transferred to countries located outside the EEA which do not provide a similar or adequate level of protection to that provided by countries in the EEA. Such transfers will only be made in accordance with applicable laws including where necessary for us to comply with our contractual obligations with you [Terms of Use]. We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that any personal data are treated securely and in accordance with this Statement.

 

10. Your Privacy Rights

By using our service, making an application or visiting our Site, you acknowledge the collection and use of your personal data by us as outlined in this Statement. If you do not agree with the use of your personal data as set out in this Statement, or the Terms of Use, please do not use this Site.

Under the Republic of Korea Personal Information Protection Act, you have the right:

l  to check whether we hold personal data about you and to access such data.

l  to require us to correct inaccurate data.

l  to ascertain our policies and practices in relation to personal data and the kind of personal data held by us.

If you are in an EU Member State, subject to certain limitations and/or restrictions, you have the right under the data protection laws in the EU:

l  to request access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data.

l  to obtain restriction of processing or to object to processing of your personal data and to the right to data portability.

l  Individuals in the EU also have the right to lodge a complaint about the processing of their personal data with their local data protection authority.
